Depression: An Evolutionary Perspective

My writing and lecture

Review manuscript and Persian-language Darwin Day lecture

About this work

This review asks how evolutionary thinking can inform the study of depression without assuming that every depressive symptom is an adaptation. It considers adaptive, byproduct and noise accounts, and the need to distinguish explanatory hypotheses from evidence supporting them.

The topic was also presented as a Persian-language lecture for Darwin Day. The recording is available below and can be opened directly on YouTube. The written review is at the pre-submission stage; the video is a presentation of the topic, rather than a journal publication.
